Antibody Testing

Thank you to everyone who completed one of our three online COVID-19 surveys over the past year.

We would like to ask for your help again. We are inviting everyone who completed one of these surveys to take part in a COVID-19 antibody test. If you completed one of our COVID-19 surveys, you’ll receive an email or letter asking if you would like to be involved in this new piece of research. If you agree, we will send you a kit which you can use at home to collect a blood sample. You then post your blood sample to the laboratory we’re working with. They will carry out the test, and we will email you the results.

Antibodies are made by the immune system to fight infection. In this study, we will be using antibody tests to help us understand how many study members in the National Survey of Health and Development may have already been infected with the COVID-19 virus. We can also use the antibody tests to better understand the effects of the vaccine.
